Cost Optimisation

Optimisation outcomes are the key Return On Investment indicator for mobility savings.

Atrium analyses raw billing data and asset management data to identify savings opportunities.

Atrium then activates automated optimisation workflows to take those savings opportunities and deliver measurable bottom-line cost savings.

The main areas that optimisation programs can be applied to are:

  • mobile plans
  • mobile services
  • mobile devices
  • laptop & computers
  • device leasing
  • employee turnover

Device optimisation ensures that an organisation knows exactly

  • what devices it has
  • where they are located
  • what content they hold
  • whose ownership they are assigned to
  • what they cost

Atrium delivers device optimisation through analysis of device data and cross-referencing with the Asset Register.

Atrium differs from other Australian MMS vendors, by acting on optimisation analysis and implementing agreed workflows to retrieve devices, redeploy devices, and secure written-off devices.

device optimisation

Atrium Managed Mobility includes a Plan optimisation module which analyses the contracted Telstra plan against the actual usage. Where discrepancies are found the plan is adjusted to minimise spend.

Opportunities to share plan allowances, and to bundle plans to achieve a cost reduction are actively sought and implemented.

  • Telstra Plan Validation - analysis of usage trend and apply changes to services plans to accurately match actual use
  • Sharing and Bundling - analysis of the fleet usage to ensure total shared and bundled data is adequate, and to highlight consistent excessive use from individual end users

In order to be successful with plan optimisation, the business needs to measure the actual usage of a service against the plan allowances that are being paid for.

Plan optimisation can work two ways – the business can be paying for plan allowances that are not being used, or, individual services can be attracting excessive charges for usage which is not included in the plan.

Atrium plan optimisation is informed by our proprietary reporting software developed to isolate anomalies and capture instances of excessive use and under-use.

It will also analyse total mobile fleet usage to identify trend data; and where relevant to ensure total shared and bundled data is adequate.

Atrium Managed Mobility includes a Service optimisation module which identifies areas of waste from Telstra services and delivers a management plan to deliver outcomes.

Common opportunities revolve around non-compliant use such as:

  • 1900 numbers for gambling, competition hotlines, adult services
  • 1300 numbers for directory services or premium messaging services
  • international roaming charges where a roaming data pack has not been applied

But we don't just hand over reports and leave you to deal with them.

We implement agreed optimisation processes to investigate and rectify the issues to deliver measurable savings outcomes.

service optimisation

Most lifecycle management programs focus on the start and end stages of the device life.

Atrium Lifecycle is unique in that it manages the forward and reverse logistics of a device throughout the entire duration of its life, including managing changes of ownership, due to staff turnover or repair.

Studies published by the Australian Institute of Management and Australian Human Resources Institute put average staff turnover at 14–20% per annum.

One of the key opportunities to optimise mobile devices and services is to successfully manage staff turnover, and this is an area where many Australian businesses have plenty of room for improvement.

VoicePlus Device Retrieval/Redeployment Program (DRP) is unique proprietary software systemises the retrieval of devices and services from departing employees for retrieval and deployment within the business.

Ownership of a device will also typically change hands when a device requires repair as many suppliers now replace damaged devices with a similar reconditioned device - but not the actual same device. This scenario also requires careful management to ensure the Asset Registry remains accurate.

Base case scenario:

One-fifth of your corporate mobile fleet is changing hands over the course of a year.

Worse case scenario:

One-fifth of your corporate endpoint computing devices are sitting unused and forgotten in a desk drawer, or have walked out the door with a departing employee.

  • Minimises the risk of devices being retained by departing employees
  • Minimises the risk of devices with ‘live’ services lying dormant in desks
  • Assigns responsibility for devices to departing employee's manager
  • Protects the integrity of cost centres
  • Protects the integrity of the Asset and Service Register
  • Secures corporate information held on devices
  • Reduces the number of new devices and services being ordered
  • Reduction in the number of devices needing to be purchased due to redeployment
  • Reduction in the number of new connections/services required due to redeployment of existing on-contract services
